Tonight I was taking some time to read my favorite fashion blogs and on-line magazines, in order to get some inspiration for shopping (read: recycle my old stuff… ahhh money…) and relieve from the terrible working day when I noticed something.
I live in Belgium but all my daily reads come from US, London and Paris. What’s up?? I don’t live in the Gobi desert for God’s sake, why don’t I check out if there’s something good in my area?
Also because, if we want to play the part of the good students, where are Margiela, Ann Demeulemeester, Dries Van Noten (just to cite a little bunch) born as fashion prodigies? Does the name “Antwerp six” ring a bell?
So I went religiously in search of some good Belgian meet for my fashion teeth.
And I have to admit that I was a bit disappointed.
I found just two nice websites (as for now) that are still updated (the big Antwerp Fashion Observer is apparently dead in 2009 without an explanation) and comprehensible to non-dutch speakers (smart thing, since the fashion world is not exactly the less international field on the planet…) and I proudly say that they are both from Gent.
So these are the two links:
Emma is a super gorgeous personal stylist/shopper from Gent with a nice blog in which you can find her outfits and some streetsyle pics, her fashion inspiration, favorites and so on.
Here she is in a picture taken the 1st December in our wonderful Graslei covered with snow (I think she was thinking something like "hurry up with this pic and give me back my scarf!!" it was something like -10 those days...)
It looks very nice but I think they should update it more often in order to develop this great potential.
As for me I’ll continue searching for some links… If you stumble upon this blog and you know something interesting in the web don’t hesitate to suggest!!

And I leave you with a pic from one Dries Van Noten 11 runway style that I particularly love.
