The places I love... Tokyo

The second post about the places I love.
After Paris, Tokyo!

Tokyo, August 2009
I love EVERYTHING about Tokyo and Japan, bust since I decided that my collages of the "places I love" series (can I call it like that?? Can I?? Please! It sounds so cool...) should contain just a few things, and mainly shallow or frivolous ones, here's my pick.
(I don't even mention Japanese art or literature: it would be impossible to choose just one image!)

From upper left, clockwise:

- Tokyo street-style n° 1 (from streetsofjapan.tumblr.com)
- Tokyo food - Tonkotsu ramen (this is the best I've ever tasted, it was a small and old place in Chiba)
- Mangas and animes (in the pic: Ai Yazawa's Paradise Kiss)
- Japanese actors Ueno Juri and Eita
- Tokyo street-style n°2 (from streetsofjapan.tumblr.com)
- In the center: Japanese fashion, Yohji Yamamoto

Everytime I use or look the pictures I took in Japan (end even when I see Japan pictures and posts in other blogs!) I feel so much nostalgy... I want to go back *sad Al*

Now I'm off to cook something, have a very nice week-end all of you and I'll be back soon! (with some new drawings I hope!)

I heart Japan

A collection of memories from my Japan trip in 2009.
(I made it just now because I got a new computer, adobe premiere-friedly...)

I wish I could go back....

Nostalgy...

There's always a reason to love Japanese artists

I just discovered this art show on the Japanese Design website.

It is a show by pop japanese artist Takashi Murakami in the Versailles Palace.

I think that the contrast between the manga-like, brightly coloured figures and the architecture and decorations of the palace is stunning: there could be no better choice than a place like an ancient castle (and plus hyper-decorated and baroque like Versailles) to emphasize the works of Murakami.

If you're in the area of Paris, you can visit the show until 12th December 2010
(why my car is out of order when need it the most?? I want to go to Paris!!!)

Another Rebecca Minkoff contest@Polyvore entry?? Oh please stop it Al!

Yeah I know, I'm boring, but the contest will end the 26th so no more entries for me I guess.

But I really wanted to post this one because it really represents me and what I love.
I think you can guess the inspiration by looking at it, so I'm not going to talk about it more.

Here it is!

My view of Iconic MAC 2011

I really like it this time... maybe because it really expresses my biggest passion (guess what... Japan?) so it was really natural and easy for me to make this one.

Oh please, tell me what you think! I would like to know your opinion about this one.

Al

PS:  A friend yesterday asked me what exactly this contest is, because she really didn't understand everything from my previous post. It's true I didn't explain.
Polyvore is a website where you basically can create sets (collages) based on fashion and style with images from the web (clothes, runway pics, magazines, any kind of image gives you inspiration). The designer Rebecca Minkoff opened this contest where you can design the new Iconic Morning After Clutch (this is the one I've been wanting to buy for months... I love it!). You have to use the elements provided by the website to make the bag and then explain your inspiration with images and/or text. Miss Minkoff will choose the best 10 and the winner one will result from an open votation of these 10 on her facebook page. The winner will attend the presentation of "his/her" creation at the NY Fashion Week in fall 2011 and the bag will be sold on Rebecca Minkoff's website. I think that now is understandable why I'm so into this :D
