Apparently when my working days become a depressing hell, colors appear on my blog. I mean, more colors than usual.
So next time you see a colorful post, start to worry for me ahah.
I think nobody is interested in what's happening to my project at work in the last months, but if you are in a mood to have a very good laugh and also have an idea of what's happening to me - Lady Gaga song aside- have a look at this video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Fl4L4M8m4d0 it is so funny that is has gone viral! And it's my life ahah (well, there's nothing to laugh about it, actually...)
Speaking of more interesting stuff, I really love how they played with colors and stripes this year, especially Marc by Marc Jacobs, Prada and Sonya Rykiel:

And they also have a very '80 feeling I think... Like this song, that I love! (I really like the video, too)
Now I am going in the shower to cry my scientific misery under liters of hot water and lavender soap...
No but wait! These colors really made me feel better... Ok then but I really gotta have a shower anyway so I'm off! Goodnight! Kisses! Love you! ahah!
(see?? I do really feel better!)
Al

Ahh! What a fab drawing! I love that girl and her striped shirt!
ReplyDeletekiller post, al. seriously. our beloved lil scientist - where do you take all your creativity from? (i'm supposed to be creative, in my job i'm actually called "creative", and then i look at your blog... sigh). i'm actually not a big fan of stripes. actually. 'cause this summer's stripes are just fantastic. and oh - that iPod case. i just need to wait for (or convince) alex to give me his, and i'll be the first to get a stylish iPad case :) (yep, totally shallow isn't it?)
ReplyDeleteand i had a look at the video - now i'm really wondering what you're doing exactly. but it's kinda impressive :)
@Eileen: Thanks!! I knew you'd love the song :p
ReplyDelete@The Photodiarist: Thank you too!!I'm so gladyou like it!
@Kazuko: Thank you my dear! Sometimes I think the more my job becomes grey and depressing, the more "creative" and colorful my posts become... Action/reaction you know... If you feel you're not creative then, be heppy: it means your life doesn't suck ahahaha
I totally understand the iPad-case thing: I bought my MacBook sleeve one week before I actually got the computer so... :D
What I do at work? Mmmmhh.... basically a scientist in the beginning has an idea and a purpose (a new drug-target to research on for example), we study it and we come up with a plan to find how it works in the human cells (and therefore body) and how it could be useful to cure a disease (HIV in my case) through a series of experiments.
When you have a consistent number of experiments that lead to a good and useful conclusion you can publish a paper: the better your research, the better the journal ("Cell" and "Nature" are the dram of every scientist), the better the funds, your "popularity" and how you're considered from the scientific community.
Problem is that experiments are not so predictable (by definition they are something new that will lead you to find something unknown until that moment, so...) and you can end up working 9 or more hours a day and actually spend your life worrying about something that don't work. Time passes, you don't have good results, you don't publish anywhere and so on...
As for me now, I am doing a doctorate so I need two papers to get my PhD degree (it's kinda strange: you work but you're also a "student") but it's 8 months that I am stuck with my experiments and going nowhere :(
So sad...
That's it in very very simple words, I don't try to explain you better because it would be boring!
a big big kiss!
very fashion forward!
ReplyDeleteThanks Rosy!
ReplyDeletewow! you can be very proud of yourself!
ReplyDeleteOooh! love the combination B&W stripes and orange pant!
ReplyDelete... And don't worry, you're not alone!haha! i have the same tendancies that yours, more i'm bored or tired more my environnement and my creations are colorfull!
Colors are one of the best anti-dépressant! Wise lyric of a nurse! ;))
Bisou!
ooo i love stripes as well and i must say that drawing is seriously beautiful!
ReplyDeletehope things get better soon and that work isn't too too stressful!
@Kazuko: ahahah I don't know, it's a job like anyone else in the end. But it's true that it is hard and you really need a lot of motivation to go on... And it's exactly the motivation that I am losing these days :-( But I'm not 100% down, I'm positive I'll find it back one day!
ReplyDelete@Gigi: Thanks!
And yep, you totally understood my point! :D
Is it because we both work in a hospital that we understand each other so well? ;-)
@Zarna: Thank you my dear, you're so nice!
And I know you love stripes! I love the outfit were you wear the striped T-shirt and the green jeans! It was one of my inspirations for this drawing! ;-)
