Everything has a beginning

So…

Actually I’ve been having my head full of things to write in my first blog post for like three days. And now I don’t know what to write.
I think it’s kinda typical, especially if it’s 6 or 7 years that that you write only lesson notes, answers to exam questions, thesis (what’s the plural of thesis??), PhD projects, ppt presentations, scholarship applications… OK, I’ll stop it here.

I just don’t remember how to write of something that doesn’t have an introduction, a discussion and a conclusion. And materials and methods, why not?

Ok, I noticed that I’m already writing a long introduction. I’ll just skip the discussion-materials and methods-conclusion part OK?

I guess my first post should just be about “why”.
Why are you opening a blog?
Why do you feel the need to speak about yourself? (when the world doesn’t give a damn of course. Everybody understands the need of Obama’s or even the latest It Girl blog but... You??)
Why “The Red Dot”?

Well I guess I opened this blog because I was tired. I was tired to feel something and to be unable to express it. And because one day, one year ago, in front a temple in Kyoto, I realized that I needed to bring back beauty and art in my life.
It took me one year to realize how to do it, and I feel this is a good starting point.

So this blog is made of my need to tell the world (even if it doesn’t read me) what I feel and what I like, because I want to learn again to share. And to finally put together everything I consider Beauty, being a landscape, a book or just a new nail polish colour.
Links, pictures, videos, music… I think it will be mainly fashion, music and Japan but, don’t worry I’ll try to vary the menu.

I would also like to share my being Italian and living in a foreign country, because until now I haven’t found anybody, Italian or not, that would understand my feelings about this (controversial and a bit different from the ones of other young emigrants that I know) and that makes very difficult for me to talk about it.
So I need to write it on a blank page to let it out.
And if, while doing this, I’ll find other people that have the same feelings I have about their mother countries and being an emigrant I will be very happy.

And, just an alert, my pics and videos will be very bad quality until I’ll decide to buy a better (serious) camera. Do you think it’s possible for you to just appreciate the effort and avoid to notice the crappy quality? Ahah OK, I know, I’m funny… But you’ll really need to!

The Red Dot because I love red. And I love when I see just a bit of red on a different background. Or suddenly, on a street. like a blonde woman with a red coat in a grey Belgian November afternoon (it happened just yesterday). Because my house is the only red one in my street in the center of my beloved new city, Ghent. Or just because if you zoom out the Japanese flag it’s nothing but a red dot on a white background.

This is already too long. And it looks a bit like the thesis-style I wanted to avoid (did you notice?? Introduction, hypothesis, demonstration and conclusion… ahah! Will I ever learn?).
We’ll have plenty of time to talk about all the rest.

And in the end… What should I say… just welcome! And enjoy with me.

Al
